JOB TITLE: Evergreen Community Orchestra (ECO) Rehearsal Conductor
JOB SUMMARY: The rehearsal conductor is responsible for rehearsing with the orchestra in preparation for concerts. Some conducting at concerts or other community events may be required.
In collaboration with the Principal Concert Conductor, the rehearsal conductor will work with the orchestra to achieve the best possible musical performance level for each piece.
Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesdays in Everett from 6:00–8:00 P.M.
REPORTS TO: Principal Concert Conductor (for musical matters) and Executive Director (for all other matters).
ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE: The mission of the ECO is to welcome musicians of all backgrounds to come together for the love of playing and the benefit of the community. Consequently, the ECO includes people who love to play but whose playing level is quite diverse, as well as people who play instruments which will add to sections that are already too large. Keeping this mission in mind, the rehearsal conductor will foster an environment of mutual respect, fun, and learning.

SALARY: The rehearsal conductor will be paid on a monthly basis for itemized rehearsal hours. Hourly rate for monthly board meeting attendance to be set upon hiring.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to lead an ensemble of musicians with varying backgrounds and diverse skill/experience levels in rehearsal and, occasionally, in performance
- Attention to musical detail
- B.A. in Music/B.Mus. or higher
- Three or more years of related professional, educational, and/or life experience performing duties stated above
- Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the listed qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct rehearsals as agreed upon by Principal Concert Conductor and Executive Director and in consideration of the diverse background and make-up of the ECO.
- Demonstrate a concern for the effect the rehearsal conductor has on orchestra members and performance quality of the musicians.
- Foster an environment of mutual respect, fun, and learning.
- In order to collaborate on concert programming and to promote the mission of the ECO, attendance at monthly ECO board meetings is encouraged but not required.
